From 24 September 2025, there are changes to the way you park, we’ve gone ticketless across our five car parks.

Entering and exiting the car park is seamless as your licence plate now becomes your ticket. Simply drive up to the barrier, it will raise and you’re good to go!

“As the gateway to the South Island, the airport is a bustling hub for travellers who are focused on their destination and need to have a seamless parking system,” Devon Guest says, Christchurch Airport, Car park Technology Project Lead.

“It is important to us that we provide services of an international standard, and this was a natural extension of the airport becoming cashless in 2022. It’s important to offer the latest technology to offer convenience and a smooth exit,” he said.

“It’s all about speed and simplicity. No more losing your ticket. Ticketless means passengers can enter and park without winding down a window and gets you on your way quicker,” Devon Guest says.

When it’s time for you to exit, we offer a range of easy payment options, you can tap to pay at exit or pay by entering your licence plate at a payment machine. Paying via QR code is coming soon.

Have your licence plate ready. Use Eftpos, credit/ debit card or mobile wallet to complete payment. Then drive to the exit barrier.

Pay by QR code – COMING SOON

Scan the QR code to pay quickly. Use your phone’s camera or QR scanner, and have your licence plate and payment card ready. Once paid, drive to the exit barrier.

Please note:

• There are no transaction fees.
• Eftpos is only available at payment machines at Express, Short Stay and Long Stay.
• All payment options can provide a GST receipt on request.

When exiting the car park, if you have any issues with the barrier arm not raising, then please push the HELP button for assistance.

Choose your car park in advance – and consider pre-booking, it will save you time and the earlier you book, the more you save! 

Airport Parking Options

• Express Park is premium parking next to the terminal and is a 1-minute walk to the terminal, with covered and uncovered parking.
   
• Short Stay is uncovered parking, 3-minutes’ walk to the terminal.
   
• Long Stay is uncovered parking, 5-minutes’ walk to the terminal. 
   
• Orchard Road is uncovered parking, 7-minutes’ walk to the terminal, with EV charging available.
   
• Park and Ride is uncovered parking, with a free bus to-and-from the terminal every 30 minutes (or a 20-minutes’ walk).
   

All our car parks offer pre-booked and casual rates. You can book here and your booking confirmation email contains instructions for when you arrive at the car park. Please note, that when you amend a booking your new parking options will be based on the price and availability for your arrival time. The car park you originally selected or the deal you originally purchased may no longer be available.
