Queenstown, the 'adventure capital', is the original home of commercial bungy jumping, but you can indulge your thirst for adrenalin in a myriad of ways.  Ski or snowboard one of several unforgettable mountains and soak up the incredible views.  Test your nerve and try one of the many inventive thrills that locals have dreamt up, from bungy jumping to canyon swinging.  Head out to the back country on a guided tour by 4WD, mountain bike or horse.

The incredible scenery of the Queenstown region also forms the background for some of the South Island's most indulgent pleasures.  Play a round of golf or try a spa treatment at Millbrook, one of New Zealand's most well-known luxury resorts.  Sample a few of the region's acclaimed Pinot Noir wines of a guided tasting trip around local vineyards.  Relax with a leisurely ride on the Skyline Gondola for superb views, or fish for trout in a quiet lakeside fishing spot.

Getting There & Around Queenstown NZ

Queenstown Airport offers regular scheduled flights from Christchurch.  Queenstown is a 7-hour drive from Christchurch and finishes with a picturesque drive through Kawarau Gorge.  Within Queenstown town centre everything is within easy walking distance and a bus service operates from the airport.
