You've probably heard the
Christchurch Pops Choir sing at one of its many successful events
around Canterbury, but it's about to sing at the airport much more
We've become the principal sponsor of the choir, which has
already sung twice in the terminal to welcome special visitors -
the inaugural arrival of China Airlines and the first of this
summer's charter flights from Guangzhou.
Choir artistic director Luke di Somma says the choir is a

"We both love our place in the world and want to share it with
our community, as well as making every interaction excellent, with
a touch of fun and excitement.

Christchurch Pops Choir is planning three concerts in mid and
South Canterbury in May and is looking at travelling further afield
through the South Island in future.
Its repertoire includes rock, jazz, gospel, pop, musical theatre
and more - from Gershwin to Gaga. The choir is conducted by
Artistic Director Luke Di Somma, and has been in demand since its
beginnings post 2011 Christchurch earthquake.
"Pops have wowed audiences with memorable gigs including
Coca-Cola Christmas In The Park, The Golden Age of Broadway with
the CSO, the Champion Canterbury Awards, the launch of the 2013
Christchurch Arts Festival, the Sport Canterbury Awards and
community "pop-ups" in malls, rest homes and other public places
around Christchurch. Choir performances at the Court Theatre in
2013 sold out, and we're constantly out and about at community
events and corporate functions."
