What have we completed and what's next?
What's been happening?
Both the main terminal building with new check-in hall and first
floor retail precinct, together with the Air New
Zealand Regional Lounge were completed and opened, new rental
car and other travel service outlets have opened for both domestic
and international passengers and a new domestic baggage reclaim
area has also now opened. Most recently the first stage of the new
domestic jet arrivals and departures lounge has opened and
operation of three dual-purpose airbridges, or "Swing Gates",
for domestic or international passengers has commenced.
What's next?
The proposed timeline for construction is as follows:
Mid-Late 2012

The remainder of the domestic jet arrivals and departures
lounge is completed

This departure lounge will include a cafe and retail
outlets

A 600sqm restaurant and bar opens on Level 1 on the 7th of
November. This is located next to the domestic arrivals
doors.

The second half of the departures lounge for domestic jet
passengers, past security screening, will be opening early
December.
- Demolition of the last piece of the old terminal will start in
December after the opening of the departures lounge.
