Terminal development underway

Charles Crofts of Ngai Tahu, CIAL Chairman David Mackenzie, Mayor Bob Parker and CIAL Chief Executive Jim Boult celebrate the official launch of Christchurch Airport’s terminal development

Christchurch Airport’s terminal development gets underway today, with the permanent closure of the terminal access road, and the opening of a new drop off zone underneath the car park building.

A ground breaking ceremony took place at 10am, at which Mayor Bob Parker, CIAL Chairman David Mackenzie, and Charles Crofts Ngai Tahu representative officially launched the Christchurch International Airport terminal development.

As the terminal will be built in the space between the car park building and the airport terminal, the terminal access road is now closed, with fencing being installed around the site.  New pick up and drop off areas are now available, and can be viewed at christchurchairport.co.nz.

While disruption will be kept to a minimum, drivers parking for less than 30 minutes in the Short Term car park will receive free parking as an acknowledgement of their patience during the construction period, as will those parking for less than 15 minutes in all other car parks.
