Ellerslie International Flower Show cultivates tourism growth

Ellerslie International Flower Show, 11 - 15 March 2009

Taking a holistic view of tourism within the South Island is core to Christchurch International Airport Ltd’s philosophy when it comes to sponsorships, and Acting CEO Jim Boult recalls that the opportunity to bring the Ellerslie International Flower Show to Christchurch was one that the airport company seized upon enthusiastically.

“The airport company wholeheartedly endorsed the decision to locate the show in Christchurch.  This event provides Canterbury and the South Island with an opportunity to showcase our breathtaking natural landscape and our world class tourism offerings.  The tourism growth potential is immense with this iconic event, and we are pleased to support it wholeheartedly in a sponsorship capacity,” he said.

"The dedication of the show's directors and the enthusiasm and passion of the people of the South Island has paid off already in terms of the massive volume of ticket pre-sales, and we’re convinced that the event will continue to grow and to attract an increasing number of both domestic and international visitors".

For CIAL, sponsorships must meet the key objectives of supporting business growth through opportunities to increase tourism numbers, and provide social and community enrichment opportunities.

Travellers will benefit directly from CIAL’s sponsorship when they bring their March Christchurch boarding pass to the Christchurch Airport Lounge at the show.  Boarding passes can be swapped for a free L’Affare coffee at the airport’s stand, and visitors will also have the change to win one of two Autumn luxury escapes valued at over $3,000 each.
