Our Vision

The vision of Christchurch International Airport Limited is to be recognised as New Zealand’s leading tourism gateway, which is based on the values of achieving success through integrity, partnership, passion and innovation, with an overarching goal of delivering sustainable growth in long-term shareholder value.

Strategic Direction

CIAL has a ten year strategic plan which provides a roadmap for the years ahead and will enable CIAL to grow its position as a top class, world leading airport, functioning on innovation and providing excellent service to customers and stakeholders.

CIAL’s organisational purpose is “targeting success through customer service, efficiency and diversification”.  Providing a balance in these three areas will be fundamental to the success of the organisation in the years to come, and defining this purpose will provide a guideline for management and staff to apply to their day to day decision making.

The strategic plan creates significant opportunities for the Company to grow long term shareholder value whilst at the same time improving overall customer service delivery.  The plan is designed to achieve the organisation’s goals in the key areas of aeronautical and commercial growth, property development, sustainability, and human resources, as well as maximising additional opportunities.

CIAL’s vision and purpose are supported by the following six key objectives:

  • Deliver sustainable growth in revenue and earnings
  • Grow South Island tourism and position CIAL as a shaper of future tourism growth
  • Deliver superior customer service
  • Provide “fit for purpose” infrastructure with the flexibility to meet future growth
  • Provide an environment where staff are high performing and fully engaged
  • Operate in a sustainable manner and be recognised as a positive contributor to the community
